Wynkoop Brewing Company is Colorado’s first brewpub!

For more than three decades, we’ve been brewing handcrafted beer in our modest basement brewery beneath Denver’s largest pool hall. Our beer‑infused food menus change seasonally and feature daily specials, all designed to pair perfectly with our award‑winning craft beers. Located in the heart of LoDo next to Union Station, Wynkoop offers some of Denver’s most sought‑after banquet facilities. Our venue can host anywhere from 12 to 1,200 guests, and since 1988, our ambiance, food, and beer have been creating memorable experiences for locals and visitors alike.


Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef is a key leadership role responsible for delivering high‑quality cuisine while motivating and supporting our back‑of‑house team to exceed guest expectations. This position oversees daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, food safety, and exceptional standards in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.

The ideal candidate leads by example, remains calm under pressure, and inspires the team during peak service periods. Ultimately, the Sous Chef helps ensure smooth operations and fantastic dining experiences for every guest.


Salary: $60,000–$65,000 annually, based on experience, PLUS:

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee daily back‑of‑house restaurant operations
  • Ensure kitchen operations meet quality, safety, and efficiency standards
  • Monitor food quality, forecast product needs, place orders, and manage food and labor costs
  • Proactively identify and resolve operational challenges
  • Support revenue, profitability, and quality goals
  • Recruit, hire, train, and manage kitchen staff
  • Respond professionally and effectively to guest concerns when escalated
  • Ensure compliance with all health, sanitation, and safety regulations
  • Develop menus, train staff, and execute all culinary programs
  • Step in for the Executive Chef as needed to plan and direct food preparation
  • Provide final quality checks on plated dishes before service
  • Complete administrative and managerial duties as required
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and collaborative approach with coworkers and guests

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, Executive Chef, or similar leadership role in a fast‑paced, high‑volume, full‑service restaurant
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, motivation, and people‑management abilities
  • Ability to delegate effectively and manage multiple priorities
  • Passion for the culinary industry with awareness of current trends and best practices
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, restaurant management systems, and POS platforms
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 40 lbs, and work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs
